Let the good times roll with one of Farmington’s newest residents

Jim Radford is a true original. A resident since March, Jim is the first person in Farmington Presbyterian Manor history to move in with his very own pinball machine.

“I bought it last year and I didn’t want to lose it,” said Jim.

Jim keeps the machine in his bedroom in an attempt not to disturb other residents, but he says it still attracts its share of attention—thankfully, it’s all been positive.

“Everybody loves it when they walk by and hear me playing it,” said Jim.

And, as the new guy to the community, Jim says that his pinball machine has also served as a really good ice breaker.

“It’s a great way to make friends,” said Jim.

Jim’s new friends even include members of the community’s staff.

“(Keely Jameson, Farmington Presbyterian Manor sales and marketing director) and the maintenance men will even come in and play a game with me,” said Jim.

But the pinball machine is not the only thing that makes Jim’s place the place to be. He’s also a huge movie buff who brought along his own personal movie library.

“You should see all the movies I have,” said Jim. “I used to collect the old VHS tapes but now I have DVDs.”

Jim has a special affinity for old monster shows and creature features like The Munsters, The Wolfman, Frankenstein, Dracula, The Invisible Man and the Creature from the Black Lagoon, but he is also a fan of a little lighter fare.

“I like cartoons—Bugs Bunny, Yogi Bear and cartoons like that,” said Jim. “I don’t like the new cartoons, so many have cussing in them.”

Needless to say, with all of his entertainment options in place and a steady stream of new people to meet, Jim is enjoying his new home.

“I love it, I’m having fun here! I like to meet people and tell jokes,” said Jim.
