COVID can’t take our Christmas spirit

“We don’t know how the holiday party plans will look this year, but one thing is for sure – we’re still going to put up our Christmas trees—at least 20 of them!” said Carol Winch, life enrichment director.

After living through a pandemic the past nine months, there’s more reason than ever to keep the Christmas spirit alive around our community. And Carol and her team are on a mission to do their part.

“I always tell my staff, ‘adapt and adjust.’ That’s what we do to get through this,” said Carol.

And what Carol and her team have done is deck the halls of our campus as beautiful as ever!

“Any corner I can find, I’ll put a tree in it. We do themed trees, and sometimes we come up with a new one. We have snowman trees, a candy cane tree, and we did a black and red checked tree that was new last year that everybody loved. We also have an elf tree that goes up in the break room. Everyone who takes an ornament buys a resident a gift – like an angel tree but we use elves,” said Carol.

Like elves, residents have been busy at work making handmade ornaments for “their tree,” as they call it.

So, while the holiday festivities may happen a little differently this year, “it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” around our community.

We wish everyone a very, merry Christmas!
