The halls of the Manor are filled with Christmas spirit throughout December as staff, residents and visitors celebrate the season with gusto. Over the course of the past 55 years, Farmington Presbyterian Manor has developed some unique traditions to honor the season.
Tree Decorating
Farmington Presbyterian Manor puts up 20 Christmas trees every year, and residents help the activities team decorate them. Assisted living residents personally design and decorate ornaments for their lobby’s tree.
December Goody Days
Each department at the Manor takes turns providing snacks and party foods for residents, staff and visitors to enjoy.
Elf Tree
Healthcare residents’ names are written on elf ornaments and placed on the Christmas tree in the employee lounge. Staff members choose the name of a resident and purchase small gifts for them, which Santa delivers during the annual Christmas party.
Light Drives
Residents enjoy tours around town to view the Christmas lights.
Season of Hope
Staff donate money through the Caring Community program to buy Christmas gifts for local children in need.
Hiding the Elf
Residents and staff who find the hidden elf win prizes throughout December.
Angel Tree
The Good Samaritan program covers financial needs for residents who are no longer able to afford the cost of their care. During the holiday season, the names of people who donate to the Good Samaritan program are displayed on a special tree.
Cookies & Cocoa
Staff whip up their favorite Christmas cookie recipes to share with residents at the annual Cookies & Cocoa party. Residents enjoy the homemade cookies with a cup of steaming hot cocoa. This year, healthcare will have Cookies & Cocoa on Dec. 12 and the assisted living event will be Dec. 13.
Bell Ringing
Staff participate in bell ringing with the United Way.
